Very thoughtful gift in troubling times, and much more reasonable cost-wise online that I imagined.
So far, I've never run into a situation where being a 6 ft Amazon with self-defense training, spike heels that can turn into deadly weapons, and the stubborn Irish predilection for preservation against the odds haven't sufficed, but definitely something to consider. Thanks for the idea!

I think what ~P was trying to say, it's not about how much it cost, it's about trying to keep other ladies safe and paying it forward at the same time. Not everybody thinks like that, and not everybody takes time to pay it forward to the next person.
I think that's all she was trying to get people to understand it's not how much you spend on someone doing a good deed, it's the fact that you did a good deed in the first place.
It's not the fact that you spent a $1.99 on a loaf of bread, it's the fact that you cared enough about someone to buy them a loaf of bread when you saw them hungry.
When you do good deeds good things come back to you tenfold. Always remember that....
