Why are VPNs restricted?

For privacy reasons I always use a burner phone and a VPN when conducting hobbying activities and I can't imagine I am the only one which is why it puzzles me that OH2 restricts VPN IP addresses. With the exception of Netflix and a few of the streaming services no other site that I use regularly, including other hobby sites restricts VPNs the way that OH2 does. Is there a good reason why they would be restricted? Sometimes I have to log in three or four times before I find a server that OH2 finds acceptable.

As I explained to a wannabe member why his email addy is not acceptable herein, due to abuse by scammers and jammers, IPs and banks of IPs and IPs from certain foreign countries are similarly blocked for much the same reason.
