local bat issues

since this is the bat cave... did u see on the news that some businesses are using a sticky gooey bird deterrent product behind signs to discourage birds from going back there? it got all over some bats that like to hide in tight spaces and they were immobilized and fell to ground covered in goo. poor things. we need bats. they eat mosquitoes and crop pests. We need to protect our local bats and outlaw this product. Like rat poison anticoagulants that kill birds of prey like owls and hawks, these dangerous and unethical products need to be removed from the market for the sake of the animals being negatively impacted. the local bat rescue group can save the sticky bats if you see one on the ground, call them. I love bats and birds of prey and hope folks will think twice about using these products. thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Unfortunately I think a lot of that has to do with the fact Austin is now full of a bunch of out-of-state folks and not true Austinites anymore. I hate stuff like this :( poor babies

This is so sad I'm such a animal lover, and its a huge reason I moved back to Austin, but for sure lately the nature stuff has started going down due to things like this and it breaks my heart : (
