harrassed by a fellow provider

greetings everyone. hope this message finds you all safe & healthy :) i'm hoping to get some advice from this community. as some of you may know, nola's resident psycho provider is at it again. i'm not really worried about the ads she's now paying to post about me having aids & pimps & stalking her. my concern is the life threatening & home threatening emails i've been receiving. i had another provider (who was october's victim) message me this morning and she said that i can go to the police as far as the threatening emails go, but i'm concerned about the whole escort factor. what (legal) rights do i really have here? i'd like to have some legal proof that she has been harassing me just in case, because as an american citizen (slender woman who lives alone in a semi-lavish setting) i DO exercise my right to bear arms. i'd just like to be protected from a legal standpoint. as much as i possibly can under these circumstances. thanks in advance to all who offer advice.

This is a tough one. Civil Barrister would be able to help on this matter. Personally I fight fire with nuclear power, but since the profession of your choice seems to be a potential issue, I say get a hold of who I referred to earlier. He can be found on here.

The only protection, and a dubious one at that, made problematic for you by your profession that I (a non-lawyer) can identify is a restraining order. And its only usefulness appears to be to prevent either indictment or conviction if someone in your position is forced to render the aggressor room temperature.

If you don't have a concealed handgun permit, get one. Licensure could reduce the inventory of potential criminal charges you could face if you are forced to defend yourself.

Document the threat as well as you possibly can. Keep a log and hard copies of emails, ads, etc. If you are forced to defend yourself against a murder charge the fact of your profession will suddenly become trivial. As the events play out you might want to consider recording on paper your thoughts regarding asking Law Enforcement for help.

And maybe she might read this thread and learn from it that you will shoot any assailant dead if he/she physically assaults you. Maybe then she will shift her baleful glare to a weaker target.

thank you guys. this info is helpful. i have everything documented (even emails that other providers' have sent me of her harassing them). i'm gonna go and save all the ads that she's been posting now. and i think i'll write out some thoughts as well. all my guns are all registered (legally) to me. i'm familiar with the weapons laws here. i usually go to the range once a week, maybe twice if i'm having a stressful week. what i need to do is have some security cameras installed i think. i wasn't worried about it too much because the city has one of those 'crime cameras' pointed towards my house, but i saw something on the news yesterday that made me loose faith in those. (some of em aren't even on!) i think that will make it so i won't have to explain any escort business after the fact if i happen to shoot a burglar who i have on tape trespassing on my property. i don't think (and i pray) that it won't get THAT far, but when dealing with the mentally unstable (or chemically imbalanced - however you wanna call it) you just never can tell....

In addition to all of the advice previously offered, you might want to consider a consultation with an attorney who would agree to write a "cease & desist" letter to the other party as part of the consultation. I've also been known in the past to write the difficult party a "cease & desist" letter myself with a cc to my attorney.

If she's rational, it should put a stop to it w/o having to involve anyone who's not covered by the attorney/client privilege.

Not much good if she's nuts. If you suspect that, go to the authorities. Your safety trumps your occupation. They know that.

I strongly urge you to install your own surveillance and recording equipment. That might be problematic from the job point of view if you do incall at your location, but having your own recording of a confrontation can be very helpful in a legal setting. I have some friends who were having problems with a neighbor and I made the same recommendation. They chose to ignore the idea and two weeks later the neighbor got them out of their yard on the premise they were resolving differences. A scuffle ensued, then the neighbor disappeared into their house and came back out bloody after calling the police. Where do you think that is going in the courts now?

hmm. that's more to think about. thanks for the info guys. i decided to go ahead and do the video surveillance thing. i don't do any incalls @ my home so it'll be fine.

Don't count on e-mails much as evidence in court. They're too easy to fake.

Do keep them, just don't expect them to have a lot of weight.

I agree. Safety trumps occupation. You know Diana, I was wondering...Would it help if all those of us who have received these "psychograms" all went to the police with our emails? Maybe the police will take the matter more seriously if there is more than one person complaining. The police have no right to discriminate against us because we&#39;re escorts. It is not illegal to be an escort...the occupation just comes with a stigma! It is however, a federal offense to cyberstalk, cyberharass and cyberthreaten! I think we should all take a short road trip together with our emails to the proper authorities. A consultation with an attorney would also be a good thing. And...you know, if anything does happen to you if you&#39;ve reported this to the police or you have the emails on your computer, this individual who sent the emails will be the first suspect!

What ever you do please try to not stoop down to her level. Do not post bad ads about her, or reply to her emails. If you do email her keep it simple. Just asking to leave me alone. Do not even ask why. For what ever the reason, its not worth it.

CL provider wars do not happen everywhere. Where I live it is the norm. I would not think it would be a problem where you and taylorfox live. But the sad truth is that it spreading. Hope it never gets past CL. I do not think it will go beyond CL. CL is open ad forum. Where ASPD and other boards like it would not let it go on.

At a local bar where I live that, caters to the hobby. Two providers got into a cat fight. After getting them to settle down, it was over $4&#39;s one owed to the other. And the other answering her cellphone. Both wrong, both not worth the hassle.
