    Totally Amazing.
The Fur Rondy event they have every winter is fun and neat-o.
Sticker SHOCK on everything so be prepared; no sales tax on items but renting a car is almost 20% State & City tax. AND YOU BETTER GET ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4 Wheel drive. THATS IMPORTANT.
Hotels are about the same price as everywhere else in America in the winter.
Down Town hotels do not pick up from the airport Mid Town Hotels do.
There is a photo Safari guided tour that should be tried The animal conservatory and the Zoo/
Going Out to eat will eat your lunch literally.

If any Locals or others know more stuff than I know please add it to the list.
    I loved living in Alaska!

Yes summer is heaven on earth, but everyone should experience winter there at least once. The best time to catch the northern lights. And go cross country skiing.

My favorite dining...F Street Grill downtown (best beer battered halibut anywhere), Sourdough Mining (for their corn fritters).

Nighttime entertainment... Chilkoot Charlie’s in beautiful downtown Spenard.....”Where they cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you.” At least ten bars (including one made of ice) and three stages. And a replica of the old Bird House - go tack your bras and panties on the walls and ceiling. Three times the public disturbance calls than their closest competitor. :-)

Hiking and fishing in the Kenai Peninsula is so much fun.

Catching an ACC hockey game is winter fun. As is the fur rondy and related events, such as snow and ice sculptures. I played a snowshoe softball game there.

Lots of scenery and things to do in the areas surrounding Anchorage.

    I miss it.
